What about a spring break at Lake Garda? Spring is upon us and it’s already time for vacation!
The watchword is: open air!
This is the ideal season for those who love warm sunny days, with fresh breezes in the morning and warmer temperatures in the afternoon. Perfect days for boat trips, hiking and cycling.
This is also a good season to enjoy the events organized by the various villages to celebrate their local products, such as the fuori salone Vinitaly and the City in Bardolino in April. But before you get caught up in feverish activities like planning, organizing and discovering, spend an afternoon to switch off and connect with the beauty of the landscapes that Lake Garda offers at this time of the year.
Spring blossom at Lake Garda: Parco Giardino Sigurtà
Nature is at its best in spring. Spend a few minutes taking in all the sights, sounds and smells around you. Enjoying the awakening of the typically Mediterranean vegetation of Lake Garda is a unique emotion. Blooming wildflowers are a real spectacle. Some examples? The over 60 species of native orchids, the wild peony and many other native species.
Spring is upon us and the watchword is: open air!
A visit to the Parco Giardino Sigurtà in Valeggio sul Mincio is certainly not to be missed. It is a huge garden (60 hectares) located a stone's throw from Borghetto, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy; it has been preserved over the years and has its origins in a distant past. In 2017, the Park was named one of the European gardens for "ecological gardening" and in 2015 it was awarded as the second most beautiful park in Europe. What awaits you is a peaceful day in a lovely garden famous for its flowery avenues, enchanted lakes and views of the river Mincio. Last, but by no means least, the flowering of the tulips is a spectacle that does have to be seen: a display of more than 300 varieties of tulips bursting into colorful life between March and April.
Walking along Lake Garda and spring hiking
My advice for a spring walk? The flowery promenade of Torri del Benaco; an experience that offers peace and tranquility, an opportunity to let yourself be enchanted by the blue-peacock waters of the lake, the immaculate swans and colorful ducks. A true explosion of colors of rare beauty! If you have little time but want to enjoy this beautiful season where everything in nature is changing and promising new life, a walk along the lake is really the ideal solution.
Do you like sports? Here's what I propose for people who love hiking: the panoramic path of Castèj that leads from Torri del Benaco to the enchanting Punta San Vigilio. Along the way you can admire the lake with its stunning views, the native olive groves and the intense green of the plants that slowly spring back to life after the long winter.
At the end of the path your efforts will be rewarded with a last breathtaking viewpoint: below you the promontory of S. Vigilio appears in all its beauty together with the Bay of the Sirens, while in front you can see the Gulf of Salò, the fortress of Manerba and the peninsula of Sirmione.
